Checkout Safety Explained

Ensuring a Secure and Smooth Shopping Experience

When it comes to shopping online, a secure and trustworthy checkout process is paramount. As a customer, it’s only natural to feel cautious at the final step of your purchase. No one wants to fall victim to scams or have their payment details compromised. Here at fabfactor.store, we completely understand these concerns and are committed to providing you with the safest and most reliable checkout experience possible.

Why trust our checkout process?

We use Stripe for all our payment processing. Stripe is a leader in online payments and has a very dominant market position, particularly in the US, and known for its robust security measures and ease of use. Here’s why you can trust Stripe:

Who are Stripe?

Stripe are a leading PSP (Payment Service Provider) much like PayPal but Stripe’s growth rate is a lot bigger for very good reasons —

Support – Stripe is known for reliable and responsive customer support, which can be crucial during a transaction, while PayPal has been criticized for delayed or unresponsive customer service.

Anti fraud detection – also called Stripe Radar and is regarded more superior to identify and prevent fraudulent transactions. Their machine learning models benefit from diverse global data much bigger than PayPal has.

Consumer trust – Stripe has built a reputation for reliability and transparency, while PayPal has faced criticism over account freezes and transaction delays, particularly on seller accounts.

Reliability – Stripe is often praised for its reliability and uptime, ensuring that consumers can complete transactions without technical issues.

PCI DSS compliance

PCI is the Payment Card Industry, an entity whose members are Mastercard, Visa and other card networks. DSS is the Data Security Standard created by PCI designed to ensure that all companies that accept, process, store, or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. The standard is auditable every year by independent external assessors for “level 1” companies such as Stripe, which means your payment information is handled with the very highest level of security.

Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)

SCA is a requirement of the European Union’s revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) designed to make online payments more secure. It requires two forms of authentication from the customer, the simplest being password and text to a mobile. Although SCA is primarily for the EU, Stripe incorporates these stringent security measures to protect all transactions, including those from US consumers.

3D Secure

3D Secure is a protocol from PCI and not another standard but adds an extra layer of security for online transactions by requiring the cardholder to complete an additional verification step with their card issuer. This could involve a popup from your card issuer (your bank) asking you about previous transactions, something only the rightful cardholder can know. Whilst not part of PCI DSS, 3D Secure will fall under it’s scope for auditing purposes when an external assessor visits the likes of Stripe.  The latest version of 3D Secure also complies with SCA.
